The Division of Air Quality recently held its 10th Employee Recognition Awards ceremony, with Bebhinn Do of the Raleigh Central Office named as the 2008 DAQ Employee of the Year. The Compliance Tracker User Group (CTUG) was named the 2008 DAQ Team of the Year. DENR Deputy Secretary Dee Freeman presented the awards. Do, a meteorologist in the Planning Section Attainment Branch, was recognized for her excellence in completing her regular duties and her willingness to assist with a range of tasks outside her normal duties. In her regular duties, Bebhinn is involved in preparing air quality forecasts and modeling. She also has coordinated the hiring and management of engineering and meteorological interns to assist the Planning Section in preparing air forecasts and other responsibilities. The Compliance Tracker User Group was recognized for its tireless efforts in developing data management systems for tracking records, documents and activities related to DAQ compliance. CTUG's efforts began more than 10 years ago, involving staff from the central office, each regional office, and IT. Members of the CTUG team included: Patrick Butler, Betty Gatano, Holly Groce, Steve Hall, George Halsey, Heather Hawkins, Betsy Huddleston, Phani Konuru, Jason Loomis, Doug Love, Margaret Love, Brad Newland, Mike Parkin, Mike Pjetraj, Ron Slack and Ann Tyndall. Other nominees for DAQ Employee of the Year included Janice Godfrey, Paul Gordey, Robert Hayden, Dennis Igboko, Jim McGaughey, Keith Overcash and Brian Phillips. Other nominees for the DAQ Team of the Year included the: Ambient Air Ozone Monitoring Team, Evans Road Fire Response Team, I/M Analyzer Certification Team, Metrolina RACT Team, Mobile Sources Grant Team, NCORE Monitoring Team, NOx SIP Call Rule Development Team, and the Toxics Area Resource Team. Also at the awards ceremony, DAQ presented service awards to employees with 10 years or more with the state. |
