| Triangle Commute Solution: Regional Rail |
|---|
|
Construction is planned to begin in 2003 for Phase I of a Regional Rail service that will run approximately 35 miles, linking Durham, Research Triangle Park, Morrisville, Cary and Raleigh. People will access the Regional Rail service through 16 stations that are planned along the route. Stations will be equipped with passenger facilities, amenities and ticket vending machines, all of which will be universally accessible. Many of the stations will have park-and-ride lots and will be accessible to pedestrians, bicycles, and wheel chairs. TTA and the other area transit providers in the area will provide bus and shuttle access to the stations. There will be four stations in Durham, two in Research Triangle Park, one in Morrisville, one in Cary, and eight in Raleigh. Regional Rail service operation is expected to begin in 2007/2008.
